Entertainment Analyst and Artiste Manager, Sammy Flex has said Dancehall artistes Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy will always carry the spotlight when it comes to conversations on Reggae Dancehall.
Sammy Flex’s comment was in response to TV and Radio personality, King Lagazee who believes too much recognition and focus has been given to the two artistes, relegating the opportunity for other upcoming dancehall artistes.
King Lagazee in an interview on TV3’s New Day on Friday said Ghanaians need to also divert equal attention given to Shatta and Stonebwoy to other artistes in the genre.
However, responding to this comment on the same show, Sammy Flex explained that both artistes have carved the recognition for themselves through their exploits and cannot be excluded in conversations surrounding the genre.
“If we are talking about reggae and dancehall in Ghana, those who have really made it to the top, how can you ignore Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy. Therefore, when these two are in the category, their fanbase alone will make it loud so this should not be debated or argued about. It is a fact,” he stated.

Regarding the duo’s consistency on the Reggae Dancehall category of the Ghana Music Awards, Flex added that Shatta’s exit from the category has now paved way for the nomination of other artistes.
“I think King Lagazee should just accept the fact and say maybe it has been a blessing to some people…Now that competition is lessened in the category, but the glory on the other side is that it has also given exposure to some name who hitherto may not make it to the list,” he noted.
The artiste manager disclosed that Shatta Wale has no plans at the moment to join the Ghana Music Awards soon.
