Former Ghana International, Dan Quaye has called on the technical team of the Black Stars to give opportunity to the goalkeepers playing in the Ghana Premier League.
According to Quaye, some of the local goalkeepers have shown enough quality to be playing for the Black Stars as the goalkeeping department has been the team’s weakest link.
“Our goalkeepers keep committing errors in games.
“If you look at the local league, we have some good goalkeepers who are performing very well like Asante Kotoko’s Frederick Asare and Medeama SC’s Felix Kyei, all deserve a chance because we’ve seen what Jojo Wollacott and Lawrence Ati-Zigi can offer,” he said in an interview with Connect 97.1FM.
The former Hearts of Oak defender urged Otto Addo to look beyond the regular members of the Black Stars during friendlies and give opportunities to the new players who have little or no experience with the team to be able to assess them.
“We already know some of the players in the team so I think there was no need inviting them for the international friendly games but rather new players who haven’t played before,” he added.
Ghana are without a win in 2024 after playing 6 games and have a crucial World Cup qualifier against Mali in June in Bamako.
