Ashley Junior, a 23-year-old musician from Ghana, recently shared a disturbing experience he had in the music industry.
According to him, a seasoned gospel musician threatened his life after he failed to meet his financial demands during a show in Kumasi a few years ago.
This almost forced Ashley to retire from the industry, but his passion for music pushed him to release a new single titled “Fakye” (Forgive).
Ashley recounted that he had invited the Accra-based gospel musician to perform at the show, but things didn’t go as he had expected.
When he apologized for not meeting the musician’s financial request, the gospel artiste threatened to take his life, citing a popular gospel artiste who died mysteriously. He warned Ashley that if he played games with him, he would end up like the late gospel musician.
“He told me if I want to die like that renowned gospel musician, l should play games with him,” Ashley said.
The incident discouraged Ashley from pursuing his musical career, but he did not give up on his dream. He recently hit the studio to record his new single “Fakye” (Forgive), which he plans to release soon.
Despite his experience, Ashley is determined to take Ghanaian music across the globe. He, however, expressed his reluctance to be tagged as a gospel musician due to the conduct of some gospel musicians, which terrifies him.
Ashley Junior’s real name is Kingsford Adom Kwadwo, and he is hoping to make a mark in the music industry.
