Black Stars forward Joseph Paintsil has expressed his openness to a potential return to Europe, provided the right opportunity lands at his feet.
Having joined LA Galaxy from Belgian Pro League club KRC Genk, Paintsil has had a standout debut season in Major League Soccer (MLS), playing a key role in the team's MLS Cup victory.
Although thriving in the MLS, Paintsil acknowledged that a move back to Europe is something he would consider under the right circumstances.
If there is an opportunity, I would [return to Europe], but I must always make the best decision for myself
Reflecting on his MLS experience, Paintsil described the league as really serious and making an impact globally.
He also pointed out the presence of elite players such as Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Olivier Giroud, which he believes adds to the league's appeal.
Paintsil with LA Galaxy
Painsil has been having a good season since joining Major League Soccer, delivering stellar performances for LA Galaxy. The forward has played 34 matches for his side and has scored 14 goals, providing 8 assists.
Paintsil will be seeking to continue with the same performance for the club while he eyes an opportunity back to the European top flight should the opportunity come for him to do so, a challenge he would look forward to in the coming years.
The 26-year-old will also be aiming at returning to the Black Stars as they seek to qualify Ghana for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations; this marks the first time in 20 years and the 9th time in the country's history that the Black Stars have failed to make it to the tournament.
