Kumasi Asante Kotoko overtook Medeama SC to the top of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) after defeating Accra Lions at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium yesterday.
Kotoko share the top spot jointly with Goldstars on 11 points as the previous leaders dropped to third with an outstanding game.
The only goal of the game was scored by Albert Amoah in the 48th minute.
Amoah, who joined this season from Accra Great Olympics, got to the end of a decent pass from Dauda Saaka to shake the net of the visitors.
The Lions attempted to fight back but Kotoko’s defence was equal to the task as they thwarted their efforts with composed defending.
Kotoko dominated the game for greater spells but failed to threaten at important areas as the Lions kept the numbers at the back and looked for openings to break but were unsuccessful.
