The General Overseer of the Glorious Word Power Ministries Internation Church, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, has offered prayers for the presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, to win the December 7 elections.
Owusu Bempah was among a group of clergy who were invited by John Mahama to pray for him in Accra, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 to win the presidential votes.
The man of God, who is known to have a soft spot for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), is on record to have declared that Mr. Mahama could never become president again. He is also known for prophesying about the 2016 and 2020 electoral victories of President Akufo-Addo.
In a turn of events, Owusu Bempah held a microphone to pray for John Mahama, upon the request of the founder of the Royal House Chapel International, Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah.
Some of the men of God present had laid their hands on John Mahama and offered various prayers.
Rev. Ankrah, who was leading that session, said that all the prayers had been in English, so he then told Owusu Bempah to offer a prayer in the Akan language.
“We are praying to God of all flesh, this is whom you have favoured Ghana with and to lead the nation in a time like this, that no power can prevent. Through him, this nation will move forward. You have scheduled it today. You have said it today. You have established him on the big seat of this nation, in the name of Jesus. Amen!” Owusu Bempah prayed for Mahama.
Just after the prayer, he again called for the microphone and said God spoke to him during the prayers. He said, “When the prayers were ongoing, this is what the Lord told me. Because of the good heart of this man, God has handed over this nation to him again, and nothing can change it. Amen.”
Meanwhile, the NPP and its government, for some time now, have not been in the good books of their one-time spiritual father, Rev. Owusu Bempah.
Founder and leader of Royal House Chapel International, Rev. Sam Korankye Ankrah; the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Dr. Stephen Yenusom Wengam and Rev Kwaku Agyei Antwi, popularly known as Rev. Obofour, among others, attended the event.
ELECTION DEFEAT
The encounter with the clergy on Tuesday was an opportunity for John Mahama to seek prayers ahead of the December elections. In his remarks, John Mahama expressed appreciation to the men of God for attending and gave special praise to Owusu-Bempah, whom he described as his good friend.
Former president John Mahama said that the defeats he suffered in the previous elections have served as a deep reflection on how to effectively transform the nation if elected again.
He said that the experience he has gained will enable him to manage the resources of the nation properly, with the aim of improving the socio-economic conditions of Ghanaians.
