Basake Holy Stars extended their rich home form in the Ghana Premier League with victory over ten-man Heart of Lions at the AAK II Stadium on Sunday.
Prince Tweneboah’s early strike was enough to separate the two sides after a fiercely contested match.
Asante was sent off just 11 minutes into the game following a poor tackle on a Holy Stars player.
The hosts immediately made the numerical advantage count after Prince Tweneboah converted to open the scoring.
The home side, buoyed by the early lead and the advantage, began to dominate the half, controlling most of the possession and creating decent chances.
Meanwhile, Lions were forced into early changes to counter what Holy Stars were offering as the game wore on before the break.
After the break, Holy Stars continued to push for a second but Hearts of Lions became stronger defensively, aided by the experienced Ebenezer Abban.
With 15 minutes remaining Holy Stars began to control the tempo as they stopped Lions from attacking.
The hosts held on to make it back-to-back home wins and further pull away from the drop.
