Semper Fi FC were forced to settle for a share of the spoils for the third consecutive outing after battling to a 1-1 draw against former Premier League side Okwawu United at the Carl Reindorf Park. The result extended a frustrating run, although the performance again showed the team’s resilience.
Okwawu United made a fast start and took the lead inside five minutes through Issaka Abdul, who capitalised on early pressure to silence the home crowd. Semper Fi responded with composure, gradually growing into the game and asserting themselves in midfield. Their persistence paid off before the break when Ebenezer Kobia produced a moment of quality, striking a superb goal to restore parity.
The second half was keenly contested, with both sides pushing for a winner. Semper Fi showed greater urgency in the closing stages but were unable to convert promising openings, while Okwawu United defended with discipline to protect the draw.
Despite dropping points again, Semper Fi remain firmly in the promotion race. They sit second in the Zone Three standings on 28 points, level with leaders Port City. Attention now turns to their next fixture against WAFA, a match that could prove decisive in shaping their campaign.
