The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has warned his sub-chiefs against associating the Manhyia palace with matters that do not concern him.
He cited for instance, the mentioning of the Manhyia palace in the controversies surrounding the burial and funeral arrangements of the late highlife icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu a.k.a Daddy Lumba, saying matter had not come before him.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu expressed surprise at the actions of certain chiefs who, for their own narrow personal interests, had sought to involve the name of the Manhyia palace in that matter.?
Addressing a meeting of the Kumasi traditional council at the Manhyia palace in Kumasi, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, remarked that, he had only heard whispers of the controversies involved in the burial and funeral arrangement of Daddy Lumba, but the matter had not been officially presented before him.
“What relevance does Daddy Lumba’s family matters hold for me, that people are associating my name in it,” he asked.?
He asked those chiefs who, for any reason, were utilising his name in the matter to cease immediately, warning that, should they be identified, they would incur his wrath.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu, urged the chiefs who had been languishing over various traditional cases before them for an inordinate length of time, to expedite their resolutions and refrain from using the Manhyia Palace as an excuse for their delays in adjudicating such cases.?
Again, he implored the chiefs to cease the misuse of the sacred oaths of the Asante Kingdom.
He clarified that Daddy Lumba was a subject of the Nsuta traditional area and that, any traditional matter pertaining to his family should be directed to the Nsuta traditional council for resolution, instead of trying to bring the Manhyia palace into it.?
