Former Black Stars Captain Stephen Appiah has finally taken the stance to venture into politics as he prepares to contest for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency seat as an independent candidate in the 2024 general election.

Stephen Appiah’s decision to contest for the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat will have him go against formidable candidates like NDC’s John Dumelo and the current MP, Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the NPP. With this interesting matchup, Ghanaians will be keeping a keen eye on the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency this coming December 7, 2024.
The legendary midfielder has left a huge mark on the Ghanaian sporting scene, which saw him lead Ghana to their first-ever World Cup qualification in 2026 and also followed up with a much important role in the 2010 World Cup, where Ghana got to the quarterfinal stage.
Stephen Appiah’s decision to join the political scene depicts his capability to deliver as he did with the Black Stars some years ago. However, some Sports Pundits say he should rather not venture into politics, but rather seek a position at the Ghana Football Association, (GFA).
