Stephen Amoah
A survey conducted by the Nhyiaeso Constituency Development Initiative (NCDI) reveals that the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nhyiaeso, Dr. Stephen Amoah, is one of the constituency’s best-performing lawmakers.
According to the NCDI, an internal party research and development wing, the study further revealed that 48.9% of the respondents, mostly youth, assessed Dr. Amoah’s performance as very good, with 21.3% rating it as excellent.
The NCDI report indicated that the MP was rated on provision of skills training (TVET) to about 42.1% of the constituents.
It said respondents once again rated the MP highly in terms of education, with 51.8% of constituents benefiting from Free Senior High School, 23.4% pursuing tertiary education, and 19.7% of school-age children either in Junior High School (JHS) or graduates from it.
“The academic performance in the constituency clearly shows 48.9% represents very good, followed by 21.3% in the region of excellence,” the NCDI report noted.
The report indicated that this development was made possible through the initiative of Dr. Stephen Amoah, who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Trade and Industry.
The report said the MP was commended for his distribution of sewing machines and hair dryers to young apprentices, and artisans at a zonal community centre who are being trained in dressmaking and hair dressing.
According to the report, some of the respondents asserted that the establishment of a factory under the One District One Factory project would also provide an opportunity for the constituency’s youngsters to gain job experience.
The report stated that the majority of the respondents, representing 35.5% who are between the ages of 15 to 20 years, indicated that they wanted continuity since they believed the MP could help them to get employable skills through technical and vocational training.
Some of the respondents, the report pointed out, were also optimistic that Dr. Amoah, as their MP, gives them the hope of changing their economic circumstances and getting employment opportunities.
Meanwhile, the MP has assured the constituents of his commitment to helping people who would want to start their own businesses with start-up capital, capacity building seminars, guidance and monitoring, as well as coaching.
