The spokesperson for the West African Examination Council (WAEC), Professor John Kapi has disclosed that all other things being equal, the results for the 2024 WASSCE candidates would be released by 31st December 2024.
This assurance was made on the back of an additional payment of thirty-five million cedis to WAEC by the Ministry of Education on December 25, 2024, after a meeting between the examination council and the ministry. With this payment, the government has paid a total of 60 million cedis to WAEC.
He disclosed in an interview with Alfred Ocansey on the Hot Edition news on 3FM that the council is doing everything possible to have the 2024 WASSCE results released by the end of December so that universities could do their admissions.
“Because of the urgency with which the results are needed so that the universities could do their admissions, we did some kind of projections and realized that if we get the additional 35 million cedis we would be able to go through the process and get the results out so that the candidates would be able to go to school.
Now that we have the money, we have been able to get our technicians to work on the scanners and broken-down machines. So, we are projecting that by the end of this month, we should be able to release the results” John Kapi mentioned.
He stressed that the council is still in need of the remaining fifty-eight million cedis debt owed by the Ministry of Education to pay their creditors and service providers as well as cater for some pertinent issues.
