2020 Olympic Games bronze medalist, Samuel Takyi, has booked a place in the semi-finals of the boxing event at the 2023 African Games.
He defeated Tunisian Mehdi Dridi in the 63.5kg weight class via a unanimous decision on Tuesday evening at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
Mohammed Amadu also qualified to the medal zone after recording a technical knockout against DR Congo opponent Francis Nambi in the 54kg quarter-finals.
Ghana now has seven boxers assured of earning at least a bronze medal at the games after after Joseph Commey, Theophilus Allotey, Abubakar Kamoko, Mohammed Aryeetey and Janet Acquah booked places in earlier bouts during the week.
No Ghanaian boxer has won a gold medal at the African Games in the last three decades, a jinx the Black Bombers look to break.
The semi-final bouts are set to begin on Thursday with Wednesday earmarked as a rest day for all qualified boxers.
