As part of its customer centred services, Telecommunications Giant MTN has set up its offices in some designated markets in the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi.
The customer outreach program forms part of MTN’s annual Leadership-Swap where managers switch offices to have a feel of other service areas in the company.
The company mounted stands for 4G connectivity, Mobile Money, MTN Enterprise products; AYO insurance and registration of new customers.
Several traders and locals using the markets virtually trooped into the various stands set up by MTN to either lodge complaints or access new and existing MTN products
A vegetables seller Akua Afieyie told Ultimate News, “I sell lettuce and spring onions at Bolaho here at Dr Mensah. I came here to get a new MTN chip for my market phone. MTN really helps because customers will call to make orders and even send money before they get here.”
A calculator seller, Abubakar Munkaila said, “I came to find out more about the health insurance. I was told if you are sick MTN can cater for your medical bills and I feel this will be good for me.”
“I was told about the MTN life insurance which can even take care of you when you are hospitalized. That is why I came to this shed to register, a trader Prince Owusu told reporter Ivan Heathcote – Fumador.
Northern Sector Business Manager of MTN, Nii Adotey Mingle pointed out that the outreach is an important program on MTN’s calendar aimed at meeting the specific needs of customers.
He explained, “This time, instead of the customer coming to us we are going to the customer. The initiative we have here is to educate the customer on a wide range of issues including, mobile money fraud, how to begin enjoying 4G. We are also assisting people reset their mobile money PIN and we also have enterprise business here selling MTN devices to SMEs.”
It was also an event to use video skits and direct education to sensitize the mostly unlettered vulnerable customers about mobile money and promotion fraud which is becoming a big concern in the cyber space.
