The Black Satellite of Ghana ended their absence at the African Youth Championship with a well deserved 4-2 aggregate win over Niger in the decisive qualifier thanks to an equalizer from WAFA SC prodigy Prosper Ahiabu. The 2009 FIFA U20 World champions atoned for their dreadful qualification campaign in the 2017 edition with a well oiled outing in the two legged clash with Benin.
Having missed out on the 2017 edition at home to Senegal, Jimmy Corbblah’s men belittled the absence of football on the local league with a monstrous outing to end their continental ‘dumsor’ at the youthful level. A comeback win at the Cape Coast sports stadium saw the Ghanaians resurrecting from a goal down to a remarkable 3-1 win.
Noted for his youthful inclination and tactical nous at the age limit competitions, Jimmy James Corbblah confirmed his status as one of the best tacticians with near perfect qualification in the four games honored.
A decisive goal from Mohammed Kudus against Algeria set the Ghanaians en route to a 2-0 win before Richard Danso and Issahaku Konda powered the 2009 FIFA World Champions into a 3-1 first leg win over Benin.
The fearsome and well oiled Satellites now switch their attention from qualification to title aspirations after joining Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Africa, Burundi, Nigeria and Senegal at the biannual event slated for Niger next year.
