To realize her dream of being a lawyer, she has been trading in polythene bags at Kumasi Central Market to make ends meet.
The 17 -year old Akua Adepa lost her parents two months after completing Junior High School.
Whiles she hawks on the streets, her mates are busily learning in the classrooms.
She is exposed to all the dangers associated with selling on the streets-as she sells from morning to evening.
Other kids whose ages range from 9-13 were also spotted selling polythene bags and other wares to make ends meet.
Akua Adepa speaking in an interview with Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo on Tuesday June 12, 2018 which happens to be “World Day against Child Labour”, her mission was to get daily bread through the selling of polythene bags.
According to Adepa, she fears her dream to become a Lawyer or Nurse may go to the tatters due to lack of support.
The 17 year old girl only shelters from her sister’s abode but nothing comes out of it because the sister is jobless and can’t provide her needs.
Adepa told Osei Kwadwo that, “though I wanted to become Nurse or Lawyer in future but I don’t have support. Now I want to be a hair dresser that’s why I am selling polythene bags to get money. Every day I save GH¢2 or GH¢3 but sometimes I used some of my savings to buy cloths”.
Now Adepa has two options either to go to school or learn hair dressing.
Akua Adepa is therefore appealing to Stakeholders, NGOs to come to her aid to make her dream come through.
