A/R: Girl, 11, commits suicide at Kotei

An 11-year old girl named Maa Adwoa has committed suicide at Kotei in the Oforikrom Constituency in the Ashanti region.

The deceased is said to have hanged herself on Friday June 1,2018.

Her body was discovered hanging on a nearby hotel after she had refused to go to school.

Her motive for taking her own life is not readily known.

The grandmother of the deceased popularly known as Asante Nkramo speaking in an interview with Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo said the deceased told them early in the morning that she will not go to school with no reason.

According to the grandmother, she received a report from some of the community members that her grand daughter has hanged herself.

“We don’t really know her problem. Early in the morning I gave her money for school and she told me she won’t go to school. We haven’t done anything bad to her. I was in the house and I was informed that she has hanged herself. We went to the scene and we found out that she is no more alive,” she said.

Tech police officers who visited the scene deposited the body at Tech Hospital for autopsy.
