The Minister of Communications Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has warned Ghanaians especially the unemployed youth to be wary of fraudsters who promise them juicy jobs through social media by using fake accounts of Ministers and deputies.
There have been reported cases of fraudsters using fake Facebook accounts of prominent politicians to dupe people huge sums of monies.

Mrs Owusu-Ekuful indicated that the fraudsters have adopted to the use of social media to dupe unsuspecting persons who are desperately searching for jobs.
She observed that the fake Facebook accounts of Ministers and prominent politicians are used as bait by these fraudsters to lure people where they are asked to pay the monies through mobile money.
The Communications Minister further warned people not to fall for others claiming to have jobs on social media.
Speaking on Abusua Drive with Ike-de Unpredictable, Mrs Owusu-Ekuful cited a case where some people used her fake Facebook account to dupe monies from others, warning them to report any suspicion of scam to the police or MTN to cause the arrest of these fraudsters.
‘…These fraudsters generate fake forms by using some Ministers’ names where their victims are duped. The victims are sometimes asked to pay certain amount of monies through mobile money. They sometimes connive with mobile money vendors to dupe people. Let me warn that no minister will give job on Facebook or WhatsApp. There is no protocol which demands that one pays money before they are given jobs. Don’t be so excited of getting a job when you see such things on Facebook,’ she advised.
