A/R: NADMO fumigates Mankranso SHS over bedbugs invasion

The Ashanti Regional office of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has fumigated dormitories of the Mankranso Senior High School (SHS) following the infestation of bedbugs in some SHSs in the region.

NADMO on April, 2018 embarked on a massive spraying exercise to control bedbugs infestation in some SHSs in the region.

The Headmaster of Makranso SHS Mr. John Asante Bawuah speaking in an interview with Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo said the authorities of the school received complaint last year September from the students about the infestation of bedbugs in their dormitories.

According to him, several efforts to control the bedbugs from the school by authorities and NADMO officers in the Ahafo Ano South District proved futile.

“The bedbugs have been in the school for a very long time. The school authorities and NADMO in the district have done our best to control the bedbugs but we couldn’t. The students will stop complaining when we embark on fumigation exercise but within two to three months they will start complaining again,” he said.

Mr. Bawuah however called on NADMO to embark on regular fumigation exercise in the school to control the bedbugs.

The students said they always have sleepless night due to the infestation of bedbugs in their dormitories.

They added that the situation is affecting their academic performance.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Coordinator of NADMO Kwabena Nsenkyire said his outfit will continue to embark on a massive spraying exercise to control bedbugs infestation in SHSs in the region.
