Fatal accident at Amanse, a community near Suhum in the Eastern region stretch Accra to Kumasi Highways has claimed the lives of a Police Officer identified as Sergent Daniel Abotsi of Konongo Police Division and his daughter.
The accident occurred on Monday April 16, 2018 at about 6:30am.
The deceased Police Officer with service Number 37055 was driving an Opel Astra private car with registration number GT 1742 – 12 from Accra towards Kumasi direction with his daughter- yet to be identified.
However, on reaching a section of the road at Amanase near Suhum, his car veered off his lane into the opposite direction lane and collided head -on with a Metro Mass Transit Bus with registration number.
GR 4732 – Z driven by Seidu Clifford ,42, from Koforidua towards Accra with passengers on board. The Police Officer and his daughter died on the spot.
The Suhum Police quickly rushed to the scene and removed their bodies which were trapped in the mangled Car and deposited at Suhum government hospital for preservation and autopsy.
The Police subsequently two accident towed the two accident vehicles from the road paving way for free flow of traffic.
The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command ASP Ebenezer Tetteh confirmed the accident to Ultimate news added that the Suhum Police have arrested and detained driver Seidu Clifford who was in charge the Metro Mass Transit Bus to assist in investigation.
