The government has described as ‘disturbing’ the reluctance by the leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to condemn its Deputy General Secretary Koku Anyidoho over his civilian coup comment.
Mr Anyidoho was arrested today (Tuesday) by the Police for saying on Happy FM that there will be a civilian coup to overthrow the Akufo-Addo’s government following the US-Ghana military pact.
He was arrested at the International Press Center during a planned press conference by the NDC.
In a statement signed by the Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid, it said,’ We therefore call on the NDC to show its commitment to democracy and governance by condemning unreservedely the treasonable comments of its Deputy general secretary’.
The statement assured government’s commitment to protect the security of the country.
The NDC and other groups will tomorrow (Wednesday) stage a demonstration against the government over the military deal.
