District Chief Executives (DCEs) in the Ashanti Region are complaining over their accumulated salary arrears, Ultimatefmonline.com has gathered.
According to them, government has refused to pay their one year salaries since their assumption in office in 2017.
They said they are yet to receive their first salaries after serving government within a space of one year.
The DCEs who spoke to Ultimatefmonline.com on condition of anonymity, complained that the situation is becoming unbearable for them since their appointments are associated with political pressure where they are required to support members of their party (New Patriotic Party).
Others also said they are unable to cater for their families who are dependent on them.
Some of the DCEs who spoke to Ultimate News’ Isaac Bediako said, they are currently surviving through their connections which they failed to explain further.
They appealed to the Akufo-Addo’s government to as a matter of urgency settle their salary arrears.
Further checks also indicate that some Ministers of State who have no seats in Parliament are also facing similar situation.
But the former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister in the erstwhile Mahama administration, Joseph Yamin speaking to Isaac Bediako feared that the situation will compel the NPP government appointees to engage in corrupt practices which will not augur for the country.
It is unclear if DECs in other regions are also suffering the same fate or they have been paid their salaries.
