The Special Prosecutor nominee Martin Amidu has disclosed that the former President John Jerry Rawlings introduced him to active politics.
He indicated that the former military leader knows his in and outs more than anybody in political circles.
According to him, he served under Mr Rawlings from the 1980s to 2001 saying he was humbled when Mr Rawlings publicly commended him when he was nominated by President Akufo-Addo.
Appearing before the appointments committee of Parliament on Tuesday, he said, ‘he (Rawlings) was the one who brought me into politics by appointing me from 1982 as an investigator, through to 1983 as a PNDC secretary. I served under him until January 2001. If there is anybody who will know me better, it must be him,’ he stated.
Mr Amidu stated that Mr Rawlings reduced corruption to the barest minimum and that he didn’t abolish it.
