The Koforidua Circuit Court has granted bail to the Matron and a Driver of Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS ) in the Eastern Region for allegedly attempting to steal foodstuffs from the school.
The accused persons, Comfort Oduro Bruce, Matron and Driver Alfred Kumah pleaded not guilty when charged with stealing and abetment of crime respectively.
The Court granted GHCH¢30,000 bail with two sureties each but must report to the Police everyday before the next adjourned date of December 20, 2017.
Prosecuting officer with the Attorney Generals’ office Dickson Donkor told the Court Tuesday that, on November 16, 2017, the accused persons attempted to smuggle quantities of food items from the school with a Pick Up belonging to the Regional Education Directorate to an unknown destination by using the southern gate of the School but upon a tip off, the security man on duty blocked the vehicle from transporting the food items away.
The accused persons became offended and reacted with verbal assaulted against the security man and attempted to bulldoze their way through but the Senior Security Officer emerged to help apprehend the accused persons which School authorities were informed and subsequently report was lodged at the Police Station.
