Haddad Rabih, the Lebanese national who is in the grips of the police for raping his female employee has denied allegations levelled against him.
The 19-year old househelp is said to have been raped by her Lebanese employer at Airport Hills residential area in Accra.
The suspect was arrested on Sunday evening after he forcibly had sex with the victim on Saturday.
Haddad Rabih is said have raped the victim in the absence of his wife and other occupants of his household after subjecting her to severe beatings for resisting his demands.
But speaking with Lantam Papanko on Ultimate Breakfast Show, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, ASP Afia Tenge said the suspect told the police he never raped the victim.
‘The suspect has denied the alleged rape, but its easy for all of us to do this, in situations when we are caught, but that does not stop us from going further, I think we are doing what we are doing, if one party says the thing happened and the other party denies it, we need to do enough investigations to establish the truth. and I think we are doing it, but for his side of the story, he (suspect) has denied it,’ she stated.
The Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command explained that the victim initially reported the case to the Airport police station where she complained of assault.
ASP Afia Tenge indicated that the victim earlier declined taking medical form and going through the court processes and only requested for police assistance to pack out her belongings from the house and collect her GHC50.00 salary from her employer.
She said the victim’s family reported back to a different police station (East Legon Police station) to continue the case arguing that she was terrified to open up.
According to ASP Tenge, the victim has been issued a medical form for examination which the report will be released soon.
She added that they will do thorough investigations on the case adding that the police will ensure that justice is served.
‘Regarding the alleged rape case, I can assure the general public that based on what we have, we are investigating the alleged rape saga, as I speak to you, the suspect is in the grips of the police… so far I may not have anything to say,’ he explained.
The suspect will soon be processed for court.
