Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman Manu has been ordered to appear before Parliament with a brief on circumstances surrounding the death of some male students of the Kumasi Academy Senior High School.
A total of 10 students in the school have died mysteriously since March of this year.
Speaking in Parliament today, MP for Asawase where the school is located Muntaka Mubarak faulted authorities for failure to unravel the cause of the deaths since the first incident.
He charged the house to summon the minister for a brief.
Other MPs who contributed to the statement cautioned against hasty conclusions.
They expressed concerns about the link of the deaths to Ebola.
The Health Minister who was rushed to the chamber in the course of proceedings disclosed a team of experts have been dispatched to the school.
According to him, samples have been taken from both the affected students and the dead for investigations at the Noguchi Memorial research center.
He however revealed medical experts suspect the cause to be meningitis.
The first deputy speaker Joseph Osei Owusu subsequently ordered the minister to present to the house details of measures taken to address the situation on Friday.
Speaking to parliamentary correspondent Ibrahim Alhassan, Muntaka Mubarak accused the health minister of sleeping on his job.
According to the Asawase MP, the minister has not been proactive in handling of the issue he described as crisis.
He however insisted the students cannot be released to their parents given the circumstances until the cause of the deaths is established.
Mr Agyemang Manu has however refuted accusations of the MP.
Speaking to Parliamentary correspondent Ibrahim Alhassan, the health insisted his outfit has done the needful given the situation.
