You will suffer for your deeds – Osafo Marfo warns corrupt officials

The Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo has warned that the Akufo-Addo’s government will ensure that corrupt officials are made to suffer for their deeds.

“I have a message from the President…which is we are certainly going to make people who have wronged this country through corruption suffer for their deeds. But we don’t want to do this in a hurry,” he said.

According to him, the list of names of corrupt officials which has been complied will soon be made public.

He indicated that Ghanaians have lost their patient in government’s 2016 campaign promises in punishing officials who stole from the state coffers.

The Senior Minister said punishment shouldn’t be meted out to people because of their political colours but the law should take its course.

‘We have the laws of this land and we must use the laws of the land not to…punish anybody because of him or her being an opponent but because they have wronged the system. They have been corrupt in the system. So investigations are still going on and very soon…the results will be out for every Ghanaian to hear and to see,” he said this during a forum to launch this year’s national anti-corruption and transparency week in Accra.

The Special Prosecutor’s bill was passed into law by Parliament amidst agitations by the Minority in Parliament.

A section of Ghanaians have been calling for the prosecution of corrupt officials in the erstwhile Mahama administration.
