Speaking to Ultimate News on the occasion of the international day for disability, Mr Ntim Twumasi Kwaku admitted that it is challenging working as an entrepreneur with disability.
“Living in Ghana with disability is very difficult because the terrain and most of our facilities are not disability friendly. Sometimes going around trying to get jobs and contracts is not that easy. There are times that you would have to be carried about in your wheel chair up to the first, second and third floors just so you could talk to potential clients,” He recounted.
He disclosed that the NTK Ventures has plans afoot to build disability friendly public toilet facilities which will be solely managed by persons with disability as part of measures to create employment for the PWD community.
Giving a charge to government, he noted that the NPP government had a number of promises in its 2016 manifesto specifically for persons with disability which he feels must be fulfilled to alleviate their plight.
He indicated that, “This NPP government listed some ten fantastic promises in its 2016 election manifesto that goes to the direct benefit of disabled persons. So I will plead with government to help implement those policies so that disabled persons can also live a good life in this country,”
Mr Ntim Twumasi also called for families of people with disability to educate and set them up in lucrative ventures in order that they do not become beggers and a liability on society.
