NIA Cards: Voters’ ID card, Drivers’ License kicked out of proof of Nationality

Voters’ ID card, Drivers’ License have been kicked out of proof of Nationality documents for new National ID card registration.

Passports and birth certificates are the only accepted proof. This is contained in the National Identity Register (Amendment) Bill, 2017 which was today (Friday) passed by Parliament.

Speaking to GhOne News’ Ibrahim Alhassan, the Chairman for Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Ben Abdallah explained the move is as a result of a Supreme Court judgment.

Voters’ ID card and Drivers’ License are now invalid.
