The outgoing President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) Christian Addai Poku has commended the Ministry of Education for consulting them in the implementation process of the Free Senior High School (SHS) education.
He charged graduate teachers to remain focused in achieving the theme of their 12 annual delegates’ conference which is implementing quality free education in Ghana.
Mr Addai Poku was addressing teachers and stakeholders at the 12th annual delegates’ conference of NAGRAT yesterday at the Sunset Hotel in Kumasi.
According to him, the only challenge to education is the lack of political will on behalf of government and that he believes if free education is implemented, it will bridge the gap between the boy-child and the girl-child.
He stated ‘As a serious teacher union, we have been part of the processes of implementing free Senior High School policy, we commend the Ministry of Education for such high level engagements and consultations’
Christian Addai Poku used the opportunity to urge stakeholders to discipline themselves and to galvanize public support, stick to implementation plan and to avoid undue delay in releasing funds in order to achieve the aims of the free SHS policy.
