Controversial Executive Chairman of Jospong Group of Companies, Joseph Siaw Agyepong, has stated that his array of businesses do not make him greedy as perceived by a section of Ghanaians.
‘I consider myself as someone blessed and I have to share the blessing with society. I don’t say that I’m greedy. One company is enough to take care of me and my five children. When I create a business, it’s because of employment,” he said.
Mr Agyepong indicated that he thrives to create employment for people in an enabling environment wondering why graduate unemployment keeps rising.
“I see myself as someone trying to create employment for people [and] to create an environment that will make people work,’ Mr. Agyepong said on Super Morning Show on Joy FM.
He questioned why foreigners have been allowed to compete with Ghanaian citizens on businesses envisaging that foreigners will soon sell ‘waakye’.
“The sad thing is that you are doing business as a local businessman and at the same time you have foreigners competing with you for the same business. Foreigners will cook and sell waakye soon,’ he expressed fear.
Mr.Agyepong owns over 40 companies such as SUBAH Infosolutions; Ghana’s largest waste management company, Zoomlion Ghana Limited; Road Safety Management Services Limited, which has been awarded the mandatory vehicle towing contract by the Akufo-Addo’s government and others.
