The National Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has disclosed that the leadership of the party did not envisioned losing the 2016 general elections to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He doubted if any of the party’s bigwigs envisaged defeat staring at them in the faces saying they presumed that the electorates would buy their campaign messages and vote massively for them.
Speaking with Host of Morning Starr Francis Abban, Mr Adams said, “No. no. We thought that we have done so well. We thought that the campaign went very well. We thought that we have reached out to many persons. As a government, the government was on course and very truthful to the people’.
A 13-member committee set up to investigate the cause of the party’s defeat has released a 455-page report.
Some members of the NDC have been engaging in blame game after the party lost woefully in the 2016 elections.
The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his third attempts to climb the presidency won 5, 716, 609 votes whilst the former President Mahama had 4,713,277 votes.
