Former Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has disclosed that head coach for the senior national team, Black Stars, Kwesi Appiah, has a perfect personality and character – something the team need to propel them to success.
Coach Kwesi Appiah took charge of his first assignment when the Black Stars demolished the Walias of Ethiopia 5-0 in the opening game of Group F in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium a fortnight ago.
However, many were unimpressed by former Al Khartoum coach’s demeanour on the technical bench during the match, insisting his calm persona is what was responsible for some of the reported cases of player indiscipline at the 2014 world cup in Brazil.
Apparently, Nii Lante believes otherwise by asserting that his way of handling technical issues is great for the game.
“Kwesi Appiah’s demeanour itself is good for football. He is a cool person but very effective and sharp,” Nii Lante told Ultimate FM Sports.
“He is not the animated type like Jurgen Klopp, Conti and the rest. Sometimes people mistake those thing to be weaknesses.
“You don’t need to shout for people to know what you meant. His demeanour is very good because it gives the players some calm atmosphere,” he remarked.
