8 Members of the vigilante group of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) who stormed the Kumasi Circuit Court have been denied bail.
The 8 members of the group freed their colleagues who were standing trail for assaulting the Ashanti Region Regional Security Coordinator George Adjei after the Judge Mary Senkyire ruled that they be remanded.
The members who were not enthused with the ruling smashed properties on the court premises and nearly attacked the Judge who was whisked away by the police to her chamber.
The Presiding Judge for the Kumasi Circuit Court 2 Justice Patricia Bonsu explained that the seriousness of the case cannot permit the accused persons bail and that investigation is still ongoing.
But lawyers for the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offence arguing that their clients are not members of the group and that they were not present during the riot at the Court.
They have been asked to re-appear on April 18, 2017.
There was heavy security presence at the court.
