The Takoradi Port in the Western region has received for the first time since 1928 a bulk vessel named IRIS OLDENDORFF.
According to the Marketing and Public Affairs Manager at Takoradi, Peter Armoo-Bediako, the port is benefiting from the ongoing port expansion project.
Before the port expansion project vessels that come to the port can only pick goods of 35000 tonnes but now vessels can take goods up to 150000 tonnes of good.
Ultimate news’ Ohene Gyan reported that the Takoradi Port expansion project when completed will reclaim 800 meters of the sea but has currently reclaim only 200 meters.
MV IRIS OLDENDORFF is expected to carry 65000 tonnes of goods at the Takoradi Port.
