The Presidential nominee of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has been declared the winner for the December 7, polls by the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.
He polled 57,1626 representing 53.85% whist his closest contender the outgoing President John Dramani Mahama the National Democratic Congress (NDC) garnered 47, 13,277 representing 44.0%.
On Thursday and Friday, both the NPP and NDC during countless press conferences acorss the country declared victory, calling on their supporters to calm down as they wait on the EC to declare the results.
Nana Addo led projections tabulated by media houses in the country.
Declaring the winner, the Chairperson of EC Madam Charlotte Osei thanked Ghanaians for their patience.
The results were declared excluding four constituencies.
