Reindolph Oduro Gyebi, popularly known as the Eagle Prophet and the General Overseer of God's Crown Chapel, is facing significant backlash following his controversial prediction regarding the 2024 presidential election.
The popular pastor, who has gained a reputation for making bold prophecies, had stated that the winner of the 2024 election would not be sworn in on the usual date, 7th January 2025, due to divine sources revealing otherwise. However, his prophecy did not come to pass as Ghanaians saw the inauguration of John Dramani Mahama as the President of the Republic of Ghana on 7th January 2025, at the Black Star Square in Accra.
In a radio interview on Kumasi-based radio station, the Eagle Prophet had expressed confidence in his prediction, acknowledging its controversial nature but firmly stating that he was certain about the divine message he had received. Ghanaians will vote in 2024, and there will be a swearing-in ceremony in 2025. However, the elected president will not be sworn in on 7th January 2025, as is normally done, but on a different date. I have one of the sharpest eyes when it comes to seeing from a great distance, he stated.
Despite the pastor's firm belief in his prophecy, the event proceeded as planned, with John Mahama officially taking the oath of office on 7th January 2025, in a grand ceremony attended by dignitaries, including former Presidents Nana Akufo-Addo and John Agyekum Kufuor, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, Members of Parliament, and thousands of Ghanaians. Heads of state from across Africa, including Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Sierra Leonean President Julius Maada Wonie Bio, and Rwandan President Paul Kagame, were also present.

Some social media users have been reacting to the popular prophet's failed prophecy, with some ridiculing and calling his integrity into question.
John Mahama's swearing-in followed his victory in the 2024 presidential election, where he secured 6,328,397 votes (56.55%) from 267 out of 276 constituencies. His main opponent, Dr. Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), garnered 4,657,304 votes (41.61%). Mahama's victory was confirmed on 9th December 2024, and he now embarks on a second term as president.
In a historic moment, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang was sworn in as Ghana’s first female Vice President. Her inauguration marks a significant milestone in the country’s political landscape, breaking barriers in the traditionally male-dominated sphere of leadership.
During his acceptance speech, President Mahama pledged to remain truthful to Ghanaians and vowed to reset the economy. He also placed a strong emphasis on gender equality, highlighting Professor Opoku-Agyemang’s role as a groundbreaking figure in the empowerment of women. Additionally, Mahama promised to foster a conducive environment for businesses, including the implementation of a 24-hour economy.
Despite the backlash over his failed prophecy, Eagle Prophet’s claims have sparked widespread discussions, with many questioning the accuracy of such predictions and the potential consequences of public figures making bold, unverified statements about future events.
