A 23-year-old security guard, Sunday Sosu, who allegedly stole his employer’s N850, 000, was on Wednesday, September 13, brought before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan.
Sosu, a Beninoise, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
According to the Police Prosecutor, ASP Sunday Ogunremi, the accused committed the offences with another man still at large on August 20 at Carpenter Junction, Ologuneru, Ibadan.
Ogunremi said the accused stole N850, 000 from his boss, Mr Leye Adewusi, the complainant.
“The complainant gave the accused his car to wash and in the process of washing it, he took the money from the pigeon hole of the car and disappeared.
“He ran to his country (Benin Republic) but was tricked back to Nigeria by the complainant, who handed him over to the police,’’ he said.
The offences contravened Sections 383 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate Abdulateef Adebisi granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adebisi said the sureties must be Nigerians with gainful employment.
He adjourned the case until November 30 for mention.
