Here are some Ghanaian players whose styling skills are as noteworthy as their ball skills.
As required by their jobs, we mostly see footballers in their team uniforms or training gear of jerseys, shorts, sweat and joggers but given the chance some of these sports men like to dress to impress and actually have a unique sense of style of the football field as well as on.
Here are some Ghanaian players whose styling skills are as noteworthy as their ball skills.
Michael Essien
Michael Essien played nine years for the fashionable West London club Chelsea and can pull of any look, from bespoke to street chic. He works-in accoutrements, like scarves, especially well and, despite having a great haircut, he can even pull off hats.
Abedi Ayew Pele
Legendary player for Olympique Marseille and Ghana, he has upped his fashion sense since becoming quitting football. Always reed thin, he’s especially impressive in slim-fitting suits with a tie underneath.
Kevin-Prince Boateng
The handsome Ghanaian national who plays for Spanish side Las Palmas, definitely has an eye for fashion and labels which he seems happy to shows off. More quirky and unconventional than classic, he goes for urban, edgy pieces and is not afraid of an accessory or two
Tony Baffoe
Baffoe keeps it simple but stylish in that straightforward mans’ man style in bright casual wear, nice suits in slightly adventurous colours and trendy denim and accessories.
Samuel Osei Kuffour
Former Bayern Munich defender to switch from a defender to a striker when it comes to fashion. His style is youthful and trend led – skinny shorts, high end trainers, print shirts and he has fun with it. A gentleman at all times – before; during; and after his football career.
Andre Ayew
Abedi Pele’s second son is surely going to be in the list of best dressed Ghanaian footballers any day.
Sulley Muntari
While not particularly fashion forward, Muntari always looks well put together and obviously thinks about what he wears even if it mostly not on the more casual side of fashion. When you are married to a beauty queen you need to make sure your style is up to scratch! (I know I’m supposed to focus on Muntari but I can’t help drooling over Minaye’s looks).
