Kumasi Asante Kotoko were the better side of the first half as they controlled the game comfortably and scored the only goal within the first 45 minutes.
Obed Owusu outwitted Ronald Tawiah in the 18-yard box, but he was brought down to compel the referee give award Asante Kotoko a penalty.

Saddick Adams stepped forward and scored from the resultant kick in the 36 minute in what would stand as the only goal of the half.
Asante Kotoko before the goal had created several decent opportunities to Ben Mensah in post for Hearts of Oak a busy man- he made two saves to keep the Phobians in the game.
Emmanuel Gyamfi’s header also hit the woodwork before the deadlock was broken.
The game became an end to end affair after Saddick Adam’s goal.
