Ghanaian rapper, M.anifest has won a top international music award in Cannes, France.
The ‘Nowhere Cool’ hitmaker won the International Midem “Coup de Coeur 2017” award at a ceremony held at the the Majestic Hotel in the French resort town.
Organisers of the awards said: “The International Midem “Coup de Coeur 2017” [Favourite] Award will be presented to the winner of the Midem Artist Accelerator, the booster programme for upcoming talent worldwide. This year’s winner is M.anifest, a lyricist, rapper and songwriter from Ghana, whose music has been described as having “the flavour of Kanye West”.

The rapper tweeted his gratitude to the organisers of the awards, saying that it had been ‘[a] surprise’ to win the award. Earlier this year, the rapper clinched two awards including the Best Rapper of the Year.

Other winners on the night included Andrew Fisher, executive chairman of the music identification app Shazam, Sarah Stennett, one of the UK’s most successful recording artist managers and Co-Founder of First Access Entertainment and Ralph Peer, Chair and CEO of peermusic, a global network of music publishing companies.
