An 805-horsepower four-door sports car from Mercedes-AMG? Yes, please.
We got up close and personal with some of the more compelling concepts on display at the 2017 New York International Auto Show.
Mercedes-AMG showed off what a four-door sports car from the powerful AMG outfitters could look like—and how blisteringly fast it would go, thanks to an 805-horsepower hybrid engine. Picture Mercedes-AMG's new AMG GT C but with a backseat and a few hundred more ponies.
Genesis unveiled the GV80, a midsize, rear-wheel-drive crossover, that may feature plug-in hydrogen fuel cell power plant which would run on electricity. No engine specs yet; it's still just a concept, but it's a really impressive looking one, especially in the fit and finish department. The use of geometric lattice work in the wheels and side pillars won't see production, which is a shame since they're particularly beautiful. But the basic shape and layout of the car will be built.
Infiniti showcased its QX80 Monograph mega-SUV concept, explaining that it's the perfect melding of luxury and a commanding presence. It's downright monstrous in size, more than 6 feet tall and wide and about 17 feet long. The striking aluminum finish gives it an other worldly presence.
We were so taken with the vehicles that we asked the heads of design for each to walk us through their creations. Which would you want to see go into production?
