The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate has promised to concentrate on it’s efforts in keeping Adolescents safe and in good health by providing unimpeded access to their sexual and Reproductive health services.
The Ghana Adolescent Health Program through the Palladium Group, has so far under it’s project, increased the number of the Adolescent Health Corners in the various facilities across the Ashanti Region from 25 – 60 in a period of five months.
Over the same period, 1500 Adolescents and young people have benefited from the Reproductive health services, while 250 service providers have benefited from the Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health Trainings, and they have contributed to the improvement in the access to Sexual and Reproductive Health services amongst the Adolescents and young people since its implementation.
The Ashanti Regional Health Director, Dr. Alexis Nang-Beifubah made these revelations when addressing the Press on Issues affecting Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health at the Regional Health Directorate, dabbing “Preventing Adolescent Pregnancy – A Shared Responsibility”
“We in the Ashanti Region are working towards this theme, and it seeks to make the Adolescent reproductive and sexual health issues more visible in our advocacy, resource mobilization and programming efforts,” Dr. Alexis stressed on.
“The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate of the Ghana health service remains committed to implementing evidence based and scaled up interventions across the region and hoping to reach it out to all the districts in order to support more Adolescents,” he reiterated.
Dr. Alexis Nang-Beifubah seized the opportunity to express their gratitude to their sponsors and partners which includes the GES, NPC, HFFG, the UK Government (UKaid), the Media, Traditional and Religious Leaders and the Community members for their immense support.
