British stocks decreased on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.35 percent, or 26.04 points, to close at 7,474.40 points.
Barratt Developments, a British residential property development company, soared 3.21 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Centrica and Direct Line Insurance Group increased by 2.99 percent and 2.94 percent, respectively.
A multinational mining company Anglo American was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.62 percent.
