AC Milan’s summer spending spree shows no sign of letting up as they wrapped up a deal for Porto forward Andre Silva.
The acquisition is yet another indication that Milan mean business in this window, having already brought in Mateo Musacchio, Ricardo Rodriguez and Franck Kessie.
While the trio aforementioned will bolster the Rossoneri, Silva has the potential to add some stardust to the team in the final third.
Porto have had some tremendous strikers on their books down the years, and Silva is another who lit up the Dragao.
The Portuguese was excellent at the point of the attack; he’s alert in his play, able to dart into space, turn defenders and fire shots off at goal. They’re attributes that make him a useful outlet and an easy target for intelligent attacking midfielders.
And when he does get time in the box, Silva has shown he has the quality to finish chances.
Manager Vincenzo Montella will be delighted to have a striker in place for potentially years to come. A consistent goalscorer is something Milan have lacked for a while and will be so important if they’re to rescale the summit of Serie A.
Silva has the potential to be that man. Indeed, his compatriot Cristiano Ronaldo is confident the forward will be a huge hit in the long term:
Still, it’s difficult to see too many downsides to this deal for Milan. In Silva, they have one of Europe’s rising stars and a player with the potential to fire them back into contention for UEFA Champions League places in 2017-18 and beyond.
