Tidal waves on Sunday displaced over 1,500 people and 272 households in three communities in the Keta and Ketu South Municipalities in the Volta Region.
The communities are Blekusu, Amutsimu and Azizadzi, Mr Divine Bosson, Volta Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) told the Ghana News Agency.
He said the disaster, which started at dawn also destroyed three fishing boats, outboard motors and nets belonging to three companies.
Mr Bosson said NADMO had done impact and needs assessment and was working on support for the victims.
He said the Organisation was putting up temporary tent houses to relocate the victims who were using classrooms and church buildings after the disaster.
Mr Bosson called for support from Non-Governmental and international organisations.
