The Judicial Secretary of the office of the Gambia’s Chief Justice Landing Sanneh confirmed the Supreme Court of the Gambia has dismissed the petition filed by former president Yahya Jammeh challenging the results of December 1st Presidential election of last year, a statement from his office said on Monday.
He said the dismissal came during the first session held by the highest court from May 15 to June 9.
“Three election petitions came before the court challenging the results of 2016 presidential elections. They were brought respectively by the former president Yahya Jammeh, the APRC party and Yankuba Colley, the party’s national mobilizer. All were dismissed by the court upon an application for withdrawal by the petitioners’ counsel,” he said in the statement.
The session, according to him, was presided over by Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow and 4 other senior judges. Enditem
