Minister for Inner City and Zongo Development, Mr. Boniface Abubakar Saddique has urged the private sector to support the Akufo-Addo led government to achieve its objective of changing the face of Zongo communities and slums across the country.
He said here at the capital when a team from Access Bank Ghana, called on him in his office to make a donation to be given to the Muslim community during the Ramadan period.
Mr. Saddique recounted enormous contribution the private sector has to play to empower people in slum areas and the Zongo communities economically which he emphasized could contribute significantly in reducing social vices and stigma attached to such areas.
The Inner City and Zongo Development Minister further observed persons living in the Zongo communities were hardworking individuals who when given the opportunity would be able to turn their situation around to impact their families and other community members.
“These are areas within our cities who have been excluded for a very a long time by nature of their settlement. To ensure we change this situation, we need to include them in the total integration of the nation’s development so that we can transform their living standards and let the Ghanaian economy benefit. This is why we are giving a special focus to them.” he said.
Executive Director for Business Development at Access Bank, Mr. Ifeanyi Njoku assured of the bank’s continuous contribution to addressing the socio-economic challenges of the communities in which it operates.
He further reiterate Access Bank was committed to its objective of being an avenue to support Ghanaians achieve the nation’s economic development agenda.
As part of and in line with its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Access Bank presented one hundred (100) bags of rice to the ministry to be distributed to deprived Muslim communities during the period of fasting.
Access Bank Ghana, has over the years demonstrated its continued commitment to social investments in education, health, arts and culture, environment and sports.
The bank complements its CSR activities through its Employee Volunteering Programmes (EVP). Enditem
