According to the Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Ghana Police Service, DSP Sheila Kesse Buckman said the oldest suspect arrested is a 57-year-old man while the youngest so far is a 12-year old.
“So far we have arrested 42 suspects which we believe to be directly connected to the murder of the deceased. Some of them were arrested in the Central region, Western and others from the Ashanti region. The youngest is a 12–year old boy and the oldest is a 57-year-old man.”
She added that some of them were arrested in the Central Region, Western and others from the Ashanti Region. She also said that the investigation is being monitored closely by the headquarters in Accra.
“We will not disclose the location of the suspects for now, but what I can assure you is that investigations are under the careful control of the headquarters and we are being careful not to put them together so that they don’t end up making up stories. So they are placed in different cells at different places.”
“People who have been arrested over the weekend will have to be presented to the court on Monday for the court to decide the next line of action,” she told Accra-based Citi FM.
She further reiterated the commitment of the police to arrest and prosecute all suspects connected to the killing of the Military Officer.
Captain Mahama was lynched by residents of Denkyira-Obuasi in the Central region on Monday, May 29, and he will be laid to rest this Friday, June 9, 2017.
