Renowned Human Rights Lawyer, Francis-Xavier Sosu, has been barred by the General Legal Council (GLC) of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) from practising as a lawyer for the next three years.
According to the council, the decision to suspend him comes after he was found guilty of professional misconduct. Although his specific offence was not mentioned, the council said his conduct contravened its ethical code.
Francis-Xavier Sosu of F-X Law & Associates confirmed his suspension to Citi News and said he intends to appeal the decision. Details of the action are scanty, but there are suggestions that the decision against the lawyer smacks of political victimization.
Lawyer Francis Xavier-Sosu is a famed human rights lawyer who is credited with helping many wrongfully jailed Ghanaians gain their freedom especially through the government’s special program, ‘Justice For All’.
